How to Get the Pirate Shop Token in Fortnite

Short answer: open chests in Battle Royale on Crossbones Isle during the Treasure Hunters mini-season. Chests can roll a Treasure Hunt prize, and Pirate Shop Access is the rarest one. Sources disagree on whether every chest counts or only Treasure, Buried, Sprite and Rare chests. If one squad member finds it, the whole squad reportedly gets it. The odds are not published, and chests can award it until the season ends (Dec 5, 2026 in most reports).

Which chests can drop the Pirate Shop token

Opening a chest in Battle Royale can roll a Treasure Hunt prize. The prizes come in tiers: standard items such as Sprite Locators and Golden Fireworks, cosmetics, and the rarest tier, which includes Pirate Shop Access. Datamined files put the Pirate Shop in the prize pool every week. That means it can drop every week, not that a drop is guaranteed.

What else Treasure Hunt chests can drop besides the Pirate Shop token

Pirate Shop Access shares the prize pool with other rewards, so a gold chest is not always the token. Most prizes are standard items such as locators and fireworks; the rarer ones include golden cosmetics. How many Pirate Shop tokens exist in total, or how many players have found one, has not been published.

Does your squad get the Pirate Shop token too?

Several outlets and community trackers report that if anyone in your squad finds it, everyone in the group gets it. A four-player squad opens about four times as many chests per match as a solo player, and every one of those chests can pay out for all four. Epic's reward text does not mention squads, so treat this as strongly reported rather than official.

Where to open the most chests for the token

No location is proven to raise the odds per chest. What you can control is how many chests you open per match:

  1. Land at a chest-dense location. Chest guides start at Lantern Landing, then go west to Arlong Park and southeast to Loguetown; Rubber Resort has the most regular and rare spawns in one count. Chest counts by location →
  2. Loop back to chests you have already opened. According to the patch-note summaries, chests now refill over time.
  3. Use the Fortune Sprite variant, which reveals nearby chests, to find chests faster.
  4. Play squads, so each chest a teammate opens also counts for you.

None of these steps has been tested against drop data. They increase how many chests you open, not the odds per chest.

How long you can get the Pirate Shop token

Treasure Hunters started on Nov 1, 2026. Most reports, including one citing Epic's press release, say the mini-season runs until Dec 5, 2026; one patch-note summary says the next season starts Dec 1. We will update this page when Epic confirms the date.

What happens when you find the Pirate Shop token

A gold banner reads YOU FOUND PIRATE SHOP ACCESS. The reward is added to your account; you claim it in the lobby after the match. Then follow the activation steps, but there is no rush: the 2026 window does not start until you press Activate, and you have until Dec 15, 2026.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to win the match to keep the Pirate Shop token?

No. The prize applies when the chest pays out, and players report keeping it after being eliminated shortly afterwards.

Does the Pirate Shop token work in Zero Build or Ranked?

Not confirmed. The first reported win was in a normal Solos lobby. One guide says Ranked lobbies do not offer it, while another lists Zero Build, Ranked and Reload as unconfirmed.

Can I see which chest has the token before opening it?

No. The first winner said the chest looked like any other. A winning chest glows gold and shows a "YOU FOUND PIRATE SHOP ACCESS" banner only after you open it.

Do random squad mates get the token too?

Several outlets say the whole squad or party gets it. Some players say randoms in fill squads also received it, but that is unconfirmed player testimony.
